We hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. One thing we are thankful this year is a recent sermon tree with fall colorsseries. Taken from 2 Samuel 23:20-23, this series asked the question, "What do you do when you face 'lions' in your life?" The main goal is to focus on God, not circumstances. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jer. 29:11)." Regardless of the outcomes, we can be confident of God's love and purpose for our lives.

Things have been going well for the SPARK website team. We are able Wayne in front of framed houseonce again to focus on improving the content on the site. We have also found ways to provide additional resources to VMS workers overseas.

There has been a lot of visible progress on the building of our house (left). After a little over two weeks of framing, we can see what the house will look like. The next stage of building will not be as obvious, as more change will take place inside rather than outside. Click here for more pictures.

Please pray for the following requests:

  • Praise God for the progress with our house.
  • Pray for wisdom for the SPARK website team as we seek to add meaningful content to the site.
  • Pray for a good visit with our son, Andrew, as he visits us for the Christmas holidays.
  • Pray for Wayne as he gets a check-up for his heart in December.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. We would be happy to pray for you if you have specific requests. JAARS logo

VMS Quotable

"Current estimates indicate that around two-thirds of the world's population are oral communicators either by necessity or by choice. To effectively communicate with them, we must defer to their oral communication style. Our presentations must match their oral learning styles and preferences. Instead of using outlines, lists, steps and principles we need to use culturally revelant approaches they would understand."

"It is often easy to overlook the fact that people speaking over 4,000 different languages are still awaiting God's word in their heart language. Many of these groups have a long history of being a minority people in their own country. When the Bible has come to them in the past, it has often been in a printed form that they cannot read or in a language which does not speak to their heart. In fact, it might be in the language of the very people who they feel have oppressed them for many years."
