Thank you for your prayers. We arrived here in Waxhaw on August 31, after driving two vehicles over 3000 miles without any serious problems! We left San Marcos about noon on August 20. We spent a day in Colorado Springs, CO, with our son Andrew, and a day in Brownwood, TX, with Linda's sister Shirley and her husband Jack. We arrived in Waxhaw about noon on August 31. We enjoyed God's creation in the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.

We spent the first week here completing administrative tasks and setting up our apartment (upstairs on the left). We officially started work on Monday, September 10. Wayne will spend the first six weeks in a class to understand Vernacular Media Services (VMS), described below, while Linda will begin working mornings as Admin for the Assistant Director of HR. We really like the people here, and enjoy getting to know them.

What does the Vernacular Media Services department do? We help the Bible translator to communicate God's Word in the local language or mother tongue (vernacular) of the people or language group, using the media which is the best fit. We work along side the translators helping them in two ways. The first is to help them develop strategies for using media. The second is to help them produce the media which supports the strategy. Currently we produce films in local languages, produce audio cassettes and radio programs, and produce music cassettes. More recently we have begun to deliver Scripture on digital devices. Praise the Lord with us for providing protection and safety as we drove here. Please pray that God will provide a buyer for our home, and that He will receive all the glory. Pray for us as we adapt to a new setting, with opportunities to serve and grow. Pray that we will find a church where we can grow in the Lord and have fellowship.
