We hope things are going well for you as the days get shorter, and weJAARS dedicated 24 Bibles leave daylight savings time.

JAARS recently celebrated the end of fiscal year 2008. The celebration included the dedication of 24 New Testaments, Bibles and scripture portions received at JAARS. They were representative of the 70+ that were published and dedicated this year. Please pray for open hearts in these l language groups to hear God's Word.

More than 200 Wycliffe/SIL/JAARS IT personnel from around the world participated in the bi-annual Computer Technical Conference here in Waxhaw. The sessions covered new and emerging technologies, the future building our basementof language translation software and tools, and creative ways of using the web to provide access to the Scriptures. After the conference, there will be two weeks of specialized workshops. The conference provides good networking opportunities for Wycliffe IT people.

The building of our house has begun. The foundation is in place, and framing will begin the week of November 24. The framers are Mennonites from Ohio, and the delay is due to hunting season. They go hunting to provide meat for their families. Yes,foundation of our new house there are some differences in the culture here.

Please pray for the following requests:

  • Praise God that SPARK web site is stable once again. A couple of weeks ago we had 15 hours and 48 minutes downtime due to technical difficulties with our hosting company.
  • Pray that God's kingdom will come, and His will be done in the upcoming elections.

We pray that God will grant you His mercy and grace. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We would be happy to pray for you if you have specific requests. JAARS logo

VMS Quotable

"People in rural Africa expect to understand and trust what they hear. If something is in print, they expect, based on experience, to be confused by it and to doubt that it is meant for them, or that they will understand it. When Scriptures are stripped of their written exterior, people find that it penetrates gently and reassuringly to their hearts. They then ask why that good message is not available to everyone, only to hear in reply that it is in that book that everyone is carrying around."

The consultant making this comment shared that repeatedly Konzimee speakers approach him after hearing a recording of the Scriptures and asking how they can get more.  The consultant sighs, points to the Konzime New Testament that has been in print for more than 3 years and says what is on the tape is what is in the book.  Only after listening to the Scriptures on tape do they start seriously using the NT.
