We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. We are truly thankful for the opportunity to support Bible House on Karibunitranslation here at Wycliffe-JAARS. Wayne has taken over as manager of the SPARK website team. There are two full-time team members, and about five others who volunteer and work remotely. Others, like Ron, come in their RV's every six months or so, and work for 3-4 weeks. Work is in progress on the first proposal Wayne made for improving the "ease of use" of the website.

After we assessed our situation in mid-October, the Lord opened the door for us to rent a furnished house, with two bedrooms, two baths, a den, and a large two car garage (Left). We moved in November 1, and are thankful that we have great neighbors who are friendly and sociable. It is a short two mile drive to the JAARS center on a country road (no traffic!). As you can see, the leaves are turning color, but the weather is similar to San Diego. There is a drought here, and it sounds like San Diego has had more rain than we have.

Our house is only five miles from Cane Creek Cane Creek Park #1 Park. These pictures were taken from the "day use" and boat launching section of the park. It is also a great place to go fishing.

There is an overnight camping Cand Creek Lake #2area behind the trees on the opposite bank of the lake. This is such a great place to go for times of quiet and reflection.

How would you like to live in a house Jungle Jump Off #1like this? This is in the "Jungle Jump Off" area at JAARS. The other students in my class took a house like this, and turned it into a studio to simulate field conditions for the recording voices of native speakers and dubbing them on to the Jesus film.

They needed volunteers for voices, so Jungle Jump Off #2I went out there one afternoon. This is what it looks like inside one of the houses. It helps the students learn how to do recording under less favorable circumstances. The man on the left, Shingo, is one of the instructors.

Please pray for the following requests:

  • Pray for our adaptation to country living. Linda found a snake in our living room, and killed it, but we don't know whether it was poisonous or not. We saw 3-4 deer in our front yard one evening about dusk.
  • Pray that God will provide the right buyer for our house.
  • Pray for our visit to San Diego December 18 through January 3. We plan to prepare to ship some more things to North Carolina. We also want to see family and friends while we are in San Diego. We would be happy to visit with you, time permitting.
  • Praise God that Linda will be working as a receptionist in VMS over the next few weeks. Our director wants us to have the sale of our house behind us before we commit more time to JAARS.

Thank you for standing with us in prayer. We really appreciate it. If you have prayer requests, we would be happy to hear about them and pray with you.

In Christ's love,

Wayne & Linda Steele
